Villain is weak/passive fish... I've called his raise a few times earlier, and he would check it to me, enabling me to bluff him off the pot.

How far do you guys take this hand? For the sake of this hand, let's say the cards were suited so I don't get a bunch of posts telling me to fold preflop.
I didn't like the K on the river, but I figured it could also be a good scare card. What do you put villain on?

i think its unnecessary. aside from calling preflop being a big mistake, I think going through this elaborate bluff against someone who seems inclined to call you down is an equally big mistake. make your money through showing down winning hands, not getting in pissing matches with junk and no idea what type of hand he's holding or willing to call you down with.

fyi, i changed my answer a little bit before you responded, i think my new one is better.
i think its ok to make moves sometimes if there are particularly bad players. here it seems like you knew how inclined to call/call/fold he was, i think that makes it less bad. I still think, generally, stuff like this isn't necessary and is long term -EV. i also think the preflop call is worse than you think. even though you knew you could exploit this one player, other people might've called behind you, making your call bad.

i agree, stuff like this is probably -EV longterm, but i suppose i was pulling a live element into the game, and really valuing my read on him.
i understand the concept. ive tried this over 7-8K hands more as a test to see how it would work out, and it seems to be working okay for me. i made a topic asking about playing these type of hands with a strong read, and i basically got a bunch of answers saying "do what works for you".

Don't screw with him when he raises pre-flop, make hands cheap and value bet the shit out of him on early streets where he's making loose calls.
