Ugly Ed
I'm having a bad run today. Steadily in difficult situations and having to make tough decision. Getting out drawn alot, losing to hidden Flopped Sets that opponents just call me down with. And there on draw heavy Boards. I have TPTK or 2 pair. I'm making good size raises trying to block the Draw. Thinking that if they have a better hand than me. They would raise to stop me from drawing. I'm reading their calls as them making bad Draws, trying to suck out on me. (Which has been happening to) Draw doesnt complete. I raise on the River get re-raised. I think they missed their Draw (which the rest of their play suggests) and they are trying to steal the Pot. So I call and they win. Argh!!

Just venting a little, but it gives a reason for why I am possibly playing so weak today. Like this hand here. I dont know if I am playing like a scared little pussy or if I made the right play? I check the Turn after betting the Flop and getting 2 callers. What do you think? Whats your play?

I figured right away when they both called my Flop raise one or both of them had a K. So I was ready to give up the hand on the Turn. After the hand I was kinda beating myself up.

I started thinking I raised it 4XBB PF. Which at that table was a good size PF bet, like a 8XBB raise at most tables. Most of the time alot of people were just Limping PF. The usual PF raise was 2-3BBs. A 4XBB raise or bigger. Would usually get the whole table to Fold, or 1-2 callers max. Anyway I'm thinking I made a big (at that table) PF raise. Whats going to JUST call that? PPs TT and less, KT+,A9+, maybe suited connecters. JJ,AK,AQ maybe raise. QQ,KK,AA would probably raise.

On the Flop I raise 3$ about the size of the Pot. They both call. I dont think AK, AQ, KK, AA or a Set just calls. Those hands would probably raise. I think KQ and smaller Kx would just call. PPs QQ and less and Ax might call. So now I kinda think that my opponents atleast 1 of them if they had a K it was KQ or less. Or they had a PP QQ or less, maybe just Ax.

Now I think when I just checked the Turn I just gave "huasnaman" the go ahead to take the Pot. I think that if I would have made the same size raise ($5.50) he did on the Turn. I would have taken down the Pot. I dont see him calling PF with K2,K3,K5 or A4. Which would mean at best he had KQ. Which he would have probably Folded if I had raised the Turn.

What do you think? Could I have taken that Pot with a Turn raise?

You are out of position with a vulnerable preflop hand (that is certainly the best at that point) and two limpers...raise to $1.50 or more - so what if they fold. Generally 2/3 pot the flop and then forget it if you don't improve - though you can certainly call 50c more just for (very limited) showdown value.

raise more preflop...everytime you post a hand it seems like you dont raise enough preflop..i generally raise 4x in EP plus 1 bb for every limper..and 5-6x in late position plus 1 bb for every limper...
flop: your bet is a lil big for such a dry board, so i guess you lost a dollar there..after you get called you should be totally done w/ the hand

remember, raise preflop to isolate, not build pots. especially with vulnerable hands like JJ which dont have much chance of improving.

call or raise more pre-flop. i think an argument can be made for betting or checking the flop. turn is good.

I do the exact opposite: In early position I bet 6x but in late I'll tone it down to 4x+1 for every limper.

Either way, OP should have bet more pre-flop: Either 6x or 4x+2x

What they ^^^ said about preflop raise, postflop I think you did fine. Don't think about raising that turn, he's not folding a king.
