UB have come out with a new reward system which at the top level means:

Cash for poker points earned (up to $1,000)
Invitations to live events.
9% interest for account above $1k.

I was actually thinking about moving away from UB but it seems as if they are seriously looking to improve their player base and compete with incentives.

I don't mean this to be an advert for UB but I figured some of the 50NL+ guys on here might want to know.

check the requirements. AP did the same thing a year or so ago. if you had the bankroll there, you would likely be better off using other instruments to earn interest.

watch the "withdrawal" requirements. if you make a w/d, it could nullify your interest earnings for quite some time....and that gets them off the hook to owe you squat. (i seem to remember that was AP's 'catch.')
LHE is a game where your skill keeps you breakeven until you hit your rush of random BS.

Nothing beats flopping quads while dropping a duece!

Ah, good point. I did a quick check and you don't get the interest if you've withdraw for that month - as well as the fact that you have to stay at that level. I guess in retrospect it's a good idea if someone plans on using their UB as an actual 9% investment vehicle but with the added bonus of being able to add to it by playing poker.

Rule of 72:

72/9% = 8 years doubling period.

Say you put in 15K as a balance for playing 200NL and come away with a positive amount of ~2k every month (is this a good calculation?)

In a 10 year period of time (assuming the bonus lasts that long) you'll end up with $330K. Still not too shabby.

I play a lot of $25 & $10NL at UB. Saw all the hoo-ha around the Rai$e bonus structure. Basically what it boils down to for anyone who can't clear the top levels (and I don't see how you would unless you're playing $100NL +... and a lot of it) is that it's now AT LEAST twice as hard to clear bonus $. Used to be 10 Ultimate points per $1 clear. Now it works out at 20 / $1 once you work through the crazy math of multipliers that they've built in to mask the change. And since you only accrue UB points for hands you play, it will take 2x f-in forever to clear bonus dollars for anyone running reasonably tight and not multi-tabling like a mad man.

Oh ... and they only release bonus in increments of $10... which at "Contender" level requires 600 Ultimate points which is no small feat.

UB always used to be a b!tch to clear the bonus at lower stakes... now I think it's damn near impossible.

Too bad, 'cause it's still my favorite software around...
