MP1 is decent, no strong reads on him, but I have seen him call a bet on flop (assuming a draw) and folding the turn when an obvious draw doesn't hit a couple of times. Do I hope he has a 7/bigger flush/AX or something? This pot is pretty small, should I value bet here? Say around $2 - $2.5, or just check behind and hope he either hits something on the river or comes out firing?

I bet here, if he doesnt pay you off then you wouldnt have gotten paid off anyways and he may call with something that wouldnt call a river bet. Besides that there are also a lot of rivers that will kill your action, another diamond, another 7 or another pair on the board, a 5 or a 6. Get the money in now and hope he has something he likes.

 I was going to say raise or fold preflop, but I'm with Fnord on this one, you can profitably raise a LOT of hands here.

IMO in this exact spot, if you play well post-flop, raising is better then overlimping, but that is still +EV probably.

Nothing really wrong with how this hand is played.

 I like the whole idea of raising in position with hands like this, and have been trying it lately (obviously not in this hand). My question is, if when you do this, and get a caller, and totally miss a flop, do you just play villians cards? Basically at 25/50nl I had just been being an extreme nit and nut camping. I definitely would like to open up my game a lot more, as this wouldn't work at the higher levels.

I'm just not good in situations where if I raise on the CO with 5 6, get 2 callers, and when the flop comes q 9 2 (for example), what to do. Sure, sometimes I take it down with a cbet, but if my cbet is called... Meh, I need to work on my postflop skilllzzzzzz. Maybe I'll hit up a lot of 6max this month.

Yup. Takes some getting used to. Also, I play at many tables where a 5% PFR will even get the table fish to cut off some of my action. Run this play a couple times and people will start taking flops against your big hands then often extend this built-up distrust to big bets on later streets where you're certainly playing tighter.

Plays like this are more difficult at 6 max because players defend better against them. Picking selective spots in full ring games is the best place to learn IMHO.

In general, when comming in behind a single limper as the second guy into the pot I need a really good reason not to raise. Once two guys are in or you're dealing with loose blinds, they'll keep you honest often enough to go back to limping.
