I hate borderline decisions. I fold and wait for a read. even though that's weak.

I'm having a lot of trouble with situations similar to this.

I have no interest in discussing strategy with a protege'. Your job is to remain quiet and listen. I have a very systematic approach that I will share with the right candidate and I promise that I will turn you into a force of nature and show you elements of the game of poker that you never knew existed.

i call and reevaluate the turn...im probably pushing on a blank because it looks like to me its a combo draw buying a card.

Isn't calling the worst u can do in this situation? He will be the first to bet on the turn, and most probably the turn will not be a safe card. What's my plan on a halfsized pot-bet?

well if you dont want to call or fold then you must push, which i would prefer not to do because i dont really know where i am and i think the turn can tell me a lot...i prefer calling just to see the next card because a combo draw is calling a push on the flop and you arent necessarily favored. if he bets half pot on a nonscary turn card i am probably pushing. if he bets a scare card on the turn i am folding, which i am fine with because thanks to his minraise and your lack of reraise you arent committed at all.

You don't want to play a big pot here so I think 3bet is worse than a call without a read. I sometimes call because villian might check to you on the turn, in which you can check behind safely... hoping for a cheap showdown. But if I call and villian leads again on the turn I'm most likely folding; which is why I tend to fold on the flop more often than not.

I see this done against me on trash boards a fair amount (since I cbet more times then not). If opp thinks you will fire again on the turn, and he has a set, it's more +EV for him to call and wait for you to fire again.
In this case it's usually more "I have nothing, but I think you've missed so I'll test you now". Calling here is fine, if you are willing to deal with his bet on the turn. A raise here to $25 will let you know how serious he is with his hand.
