Hi, I'm new to posting on this site but I've been reading articles and posts here since I started playing.
I wouldn't consider myself to be a good poker player by any means, but I've been moderately successful at the level I play, and I thought that I had played this hand right.

Maybe it was a bad decision to call, but I couldn't have assumed that he had made a runner runner flush or a straight could I? I put him on 2 pair or a set at best.
Please help me with avoiding this kind of hand, I've been losing alot of money to these types lately. Any input is appreciated, thanks.

You go broke here every time pretty much.
Bet more on the flop (eg you bet $0.40 into a $0.95 pot giving him over 3:1 to stay in with his bottom pair and hope to get lucky)
Again, had the same problem occured on the turn where he was getting about 3:1 to imrpove (though here the odds probably don't really justify staying in unless he was looking at implied odds which I dobt at this level)
The river push byhim though screams that either he has us beat or he's bluffing. With top 2 I'd find it hard to get away from this here as well (just ask my BR ) and by that stage it comes down to how over to you think he's bluffing vs having the set/flush since you're getting about 3:1 on the push.
