Bodog 50NL. Hero has QQ in the BB. Villain is on the button.

Preflop--Several limps. Hero raises to $3. Everyone folds but villain. Pot=$9

Flop--8d Ah 5s. Hero checks. Villain bets $3. Hero raises t0 $10. Villain calls. Pot=$29

Turn--7s. Hero checks. Villain checks.

River--10d. Hero checks. Villain bets $5. Hero folds.

Thoughts on this hand--A on flop was a scare card, but when he made such a pussy bet, I figured the flop had missed him, so I reraised. When he called over 3x his flop bet, I thought he did have an A and kicker he wasn't confident in. Or that he was slow-playing a set. Hence the turn check. When he made a quick river value bet, I was 99.99% certain I was beat, hence the fold despite overwhelmingly good pot odds.

Thoughts on my line?

I think Id rather cbet this flop and fold to a raise than raise villains bet, is my thinking off here?

As played I dont hate the fold, you are oop and villain called your check raise on a pretty dry board. If villain isnt too aggressive [doesnt say in the post], what would people think of a blocking bet?

I agree that this is not a situation for a CR. The C-bet/fold is much easier-cheaper line.

Agreed. Either lead and make that your whole contribution to the pot should you get called.. or check/call (what I would have done in most cases).

check / call. check raising is the worst possible thing you can do. turn and river call callable bets otherwise fold.
