I was only on the table for about 25 hands but he only played a couple of them and raised them. If he had a higher pair or somehow part of the straight, I didn't want him to get it, so I pushed. Was this too much here?

I don't think theres ever a reason to over bet this much here. Any hand that you think he may have that will pay you off if you push, is drawing very slim to beat your top set. So why not make more callable bets? Keep the medicre hands in (TPTK) that will pay off small bets but not your all in.

That's what I thought. When I don't have the absolute nuts, I tend to overbet a little. He almost called too as he told me later. In fact, he was stewing for about 45 minutes until he overbet a hand against me and said it was payback when I folded. I guess he thought I was bluffing.

Keep trying to fine tune my game. I'll have to tone down the bets a little in these situations.
