Few hands from my today's session where I really had no idea what to do.

Hand 1:

Villain is 16.7/0/1.33 over 60 hands. Last time he flopped a set he check-called the flop and checked the turn.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (8 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

MP1 ($86.50)
MP2 ($55.65)
CO ($27.45)
Button ($21)
SB ($22.45)
BB ($46)
UTG ($65.20)
Hero ($58.15)

Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with Q, Q.
UTG calls $0.50, Hero raises to $2.5, 3 folds, Button calls $2.50, 1 fold, BB calls $2, UTG calls $2.

Flop: ($10.25) 4, T, 8 (4 players)
BB checks, UTG checks, Hero bets $8, Button folds, BB folds, UTG raises to $16, ??

Folding to a minraise feels so weak, but do I beat anything here?

Hand 2:

BB is 17.66/5.8/0.68 over 700 hands, no reads or stats on CO, but probably a standard fish because of his low stack.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (9 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

MP2 ($58.55)
MP3 ($84.85)
CO ($32.30)
Button ($1.30)
Hero ($49.50)
BB ($50)
UTG ($159.95)
UTG+1 ($12.30)
MP1 ($38.65)

Preflop: Hero is SB with 9, 8.
5 folds, CO calls $0.50, 1 fold, Hero completes, BB checks.

Flop: ($1.50) 6, 7, 7 (3 players)
Hero bets $1.5, BB calls $1.50, CO calls $1.50.

Turn: ($6) T (3 players)
Hero bets $4.5, BB raises to $10, CO calls $10, ??

Should I call and hope for a cheap showdown or just fold? If I call, how much am I willing to call on the river?

Hand 3:

BB is a huge calling station and a total fish, so I'm not really worried about him. UTG+1 was something like 20/7 over 20 or so hands at the time.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (8 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

UTG+1 ($58.55)
MP1 ($83.55)
MP2 ($7.45)
Hero ($50)
Button ($100.85)
SB ($146.65)
BB ($11)
UTG ($38.65)

Preflop: Hero is CO with A, J.
1 fold, UTG+1 raises to $2, 2 folds, Hero calls $2, 2 folds, BB calls $1.50.

Flop: ($6.25) J, 9, 3 (3 players)
BB checks, UTG+1 checks, Hero bets $4.5, BB raises to $9, UTG+1 calls $9, ??

I don't always call this preflop, so no need to comment on that. My flop bet could be seen as a steal, but would UTG+1 cold call a bet and a raise with something I could beat? Note that BB is all in.

I'm having troubles with hands like these, where I'm probably facing a bet later in the hand and I have to fold, but I still call them in the first place because of tempting pot odds, even though my hand is unlikely to improve.

Dude these are 3 tricky hands indeed!

Hand 1
If your villan is that tight/weak then I think you might be beat. In this spot the only hands that you are beating here are JJ and the flush draw. Doubtfull he has KK+ and you cant put him on two pair. With the limp call PF I suggest he has 44 or 88. Good fold IMO

Hand 2
This sucks, I'd be happy laying this down even if on showdown one only had trips. 6/7 or 7/10 is a possibility with liming preflop and it could even be a split pot with onother 9/8. Its a danger hand and with only $6 invested I'd be happy to get out as you could be losing a lot more! Fold even though you might have the best hand

Hand 3
You are right there is no way BB is smooth calling with anything that you can beat. My guess is JJ+.. Not sure about BB he could be drawing OESD/Trips/Two pair

Thats my take

Wow, great hands...

1) I don't want to stack myself with a not even close to nut hand, it's a tough fold but a good one.

2) i call and try to show down for cheap. If someone goes all in ahead of you, i fold. But you have a pretty good hand and you shouldn't fold it.

3)hmm, since the BB is all in and you cut off the action i call. check turn, if UTG bets you know he's got you beat, and you can get out.

These are good. Any reads on how any of these villains may see you at the time?

My thought on Hand 1 is the obvious. Considering villain, you are at best 50/50 against a strong draw like JcTc, AcTc+, but also likely against a set. My standard line here is to probably fold, but I wonder if calling, getting over 4 to 1 might not be correct with position. In general, how often will 'this' guy check to us if the turn bricks and he is on the draw?

Here are the results:

Hand 1: I folded

Hand 2:

Preflop: Hero is SB with 9, 8.
5 folds, CO calls $0.50, 1 fold, Hero completes, BB checks.

Flop: ($1.50) 6, 7, 7 (3 players)
Hero bets $1.5, BB calls $1.50, CO calls $1.50.

Turn: ($6) T (3 players)
Hero bets $4.5, BB raises to $10, CO calls $10, Hero calls $5.50.

River: ($36) 9 (3 players)
Hero checks, BB bets $20, CO raises to $20.3, Hero folds, BB calls $0.30.

Final Pot: $76.60

Results in white below:
BB has 6c 7d (full house, sevens full of sixes).
CO has 7h Ks (three of a kind, sevens).
Outcome: BB wins $76.60.

Hand 3:

Preflop: Hero is CO with A, J.
1 fold, UTG+1 raises to $2, 2 folds, Hero calls $2, 2 folds, BB calls $1.50.

Flop: ($6.25) J, 9, 3 (3 players)
BB checks, UTG+1 checks, Hero bets $4.5, BB raises to $9, UTG+1 calls $9, Hero calls $4.50.

Turn: ($33.25) 4 (3 players)
UTG+1 checks, Hero checks.

River: ($33.25) K (3 players)
UTG+1 bets $20, Hero folds.

Final Pot: $53.25

Results in white below:
BB has 3c 3d (three of a kind, threes).
UTG+1 has Qs Kc (one pair, kings).
Outcome: UTG+1 wins $33.25. BB wins $20.

I never thought villain would call with two overs (+ a gutshot), but I guess anything is possible when you don't have a read.

Thanks for the help guys.

Well, I lost a stack on the second one, but in my defence (sort of) I had it in my head it was 6max. Nice fold.
