I was looking at some 3bet pots and came across a few where I was at least somewhat deep. With different sites offering more deep tables now, what are some thoughts on 3 betting when deep?
I realize now that I'm not really ruining any pot odds for setmining by 3 betting. Maybe I should be more willing to get away from overpairs when deep? But then I might just be playing scared every time I'm deep with a player.
Anyway, I played this hand trying to get as much money in the pot assuming he does not have a set, but has like AQ or KK instead. But I'm really not sure this is a great way to play it so need some advice...
For reference V is 16/15 preflop over 450 hands but I don't know much more about him than that.

Button ($104.65)
Hero (SB) ($160.70)
BB ($234.05)
UTG ($88.85)
UTG+1 ($65.45)
MP1 ($45.55)
MP2 ($118.35)
CO ($216.30)

Preflop: Hero is SB with A, A
UTG calls $1, 3 folds, CO bets $4.50, 1 fold, Hero raises to $12, 2 folds, CO calls $7.50

Flop: ($26) 7, 3, Q (2 players)
Hero checks, CO bets $14, Hero raises to $35, CO calls $21

Turn: ($96) 2 (2 players)
Hero bets $45, CO raises to $169.30 (All-In), Hero calls $68.70 (All-In)

wtf your 3 bet sizing preflop? wtf your c/r with AA on this dry flop? I dont mind stacking off 160BB deep with AA here.

wat

3bet more.. like 16-17'ish

bet flop. c/r is so bad cuz you arent getting value from anyone decent. AQ/KK drop their hands pretty quick. betting allows you to extract value on later streets.

if he's decent he'll show up with QQ the way you played it.

Yeah, this isn't like the standard way I would play this hand. Usually when I go beyond my normal play is where I get into trouble...
Anyway, yeah I often 3bet 3x, but this is definitely a small 3bet in this case, esp. out of position. I was thinking that he's going to very likely have a weak hand here and that's why I c/raised. I thought I'd get at least some value from hands that normally fold to a c/bet here and he might be more likely to call a raise on dry board like this w/like KQ or QJ.
So the fact that its somewhat deep doesn't change the plan to just bet bet bet? Guess I just tend to overthink it. Thanks!
