First i have to say: You guys rock! This site is really great and im reading almost everthing i can find here!

I'm very new to poker (i'm playing 2 month, HLNL at the lowest tables, ring games and sng).

These are two hands i played at empire and i wonder if i played it well. I had these things in mind while playing: play tight. if i want to play a hand, raise it - dont call and be aggressive.

Hand 1: Just limp/call with 33 UTG. If you raise here go 3 to the flop, you're out of position and you'll only feel safe if you flop a set. You're also forced to bet and at the mercy of your opponents. The flop weaklead isnt bad, but when you're raising put something behind it. Yes, he'll call 4 more guarenteed but he should/may also call 6,8, 10 even 12 more. Then you've got a huge pot and your opponent cant justify folding to an AI on the turn or river. The turn bet is as close to slowplaying as you can really get. He's obviously not going to raise again and if he's going to call, he'll probably call more.

Hand 2: Again, your raises are so small there's no way they're going to thin the field. You've got a VERY weak hand and you're building a pot. A bigger pot + multiways + a weak hand = Very bad. You should have raised to 3 or 4 dollars here and make your opps pay to draw. If you still think you're ahead on the turn, you should be going AI and not just calling.

You've gotta bet and raise for good and concious reasons. Right now, you're not really putting any logic behind the values you're raising to or when you're betting/raising. But that will change in time.

HAND 1
Hmmm, I don't like the raise preflop. everything else looks g00t. I may push on the turn.

HAND 2
I don't like the raise preflop. You should be scared of the on the turn, it screams I have at least a 3. He trapped you on the river with the min bet you silly TAgg .
