the dead side deterred me from shoving flop. i figured i'd get a good idea what he has on the turn and figured i could play another street.

Hmm, as played: I like the fold. You only beat QQ and he isnt bluffing with a side pot.

If you had more hands played I could definitely see calling the flop to see his action on the turn but its tough to say he doesn't 3 bet JJ+ with just 200 hands.

i usually do, but i popped it UTG and he's never 3-bet once (altho it is a small sample i guess). if we decide to flat, how do you like it as played?

If this is standard, this game is in dire need of an ante.

*shrug* i rarely ever get away from KK vs AA, and as the action played out i was fairly certain this was one of the spots. i guess the thread name shouldn't be "standard", but given the feel of the hand I felt pretty good mucking.

meh i don't hate the way this hand was played, it's quite possible his 3bet range in that spot is entirely KK+ and once we peel the flop and he bets again into the dry sidepot it looks a lot like AA unless he's a level ahead, which i wouldn't expect him to be at this level.

It's not standard except against players whose 3-betting range is KK and AA. If they added an ante, these players would most likely keep the same 3-betting range and lose their money even faster than they do now.

BTW flop is a fold against this nit.
