This is for those smaller questions I have that probably aren't worth their own thread. I'll number hands/questions for easy reference.

Hand 1

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $1.00 BB (8 handed)

MP2 ($32.95) (only important stack)

Preflop: Hero is BB with K, Q.
3 folds, MP2 calls $1, 3 folds, Hero raises to $7, MP2 folds.

How concerned should I be in spots like this versus short stacks? I'm obviously not calling a push here but at what point in either my hand strength or his stack size do I prefer a check?

I have no interest in discussing strategy with a protege'. Your job is to remain quiet and listen. I have a very systematic approach that I will share with the right candidate and I promise that I will turn you into a force of nature and show you elements of the game of poker that you never knew existed.

Why wouldn't you call a shove?

I think you should have atleast 40% equity if he shoves. You are rarely gonna see AQ,AK,AA,KK,QQ

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 44.415% 42.17% 02.25% 1984251048 105678630.00 { KQo }
Hand 1: 55.585% 53.34% 02.25% 2509803084 105678630.00 { 99-22, AJs-A2s, KJs+, AJo-A2o, KJo+ }

We are basically calling $26 to win $42 when he shoves right? Getting 1.6 to 1

I think we need around 38% equity so minus rake it's probably about a neutral ev call, and it may be good for your image.
