What was the size of the pot on the flop and river?

Also, any general feelings about the caller?

It just smells like he had a strong ace from first glance. Possibly even the nut boat on the river. Your check on the turn was interesting, I think it should have signaled something to the other player. You bet the flop trying to weed out the drawers and thin the field. Then you check when the board pairs? Bet the turn to disguise the boat but only 1/2 the pot so flushes can still draw. On the river, you're only beaten by AJ so enjoy it.

Precisely.

The pot was $9.00 on the flop and $12.50 on the river including the other players $3.50 bet.

I had only been at the table about 30 minutes, so I did not have a ton of information. In general, any bet, even moderate ones, on the turn would result in folds around the table. The other player never folded on the river and called everything.

Hope this helps.

if only one hand beats you, and it has to be 2 specific cards (A, J) then i'd almost always put myself all in if i had to, a full house is a damn good hand, i think you played it fairly well, i think he's either a fish with nothing who hopelessly tried to bluff on the river (you checked the turn, slowplay, he checked the turn... flush draw?) or he has an ace-something (hopefully not jack)... your still the big favourite to win though...

AK and AQ will make this play. Unfortunately so will AJ. I'd say you have to call, and if he's holding AJ you just have to pay him off. Nothing magical you can do about it.

You're holding the nuts and you get all the other guy's money in? Um, let's see...yeah I guess that's a pretty ok play. So he turns over KQ on the river...sucks to be you.

Okay. Here are the results with my thoughts on why I played these the way I did.

Hand 1:

Showdown:

yeldud shows Ah 6h.
yeldud has Ah 6h 6s Ad Ac: full house, aces full of sixes.
PopeInnocent mucks cards.
(PopeInnocent has Jd 8d.)

Hand #3452769-3299 Summary:

$2 is raked from a pot of $48.
yeldud wins $46 with full house, aces full of sixes.

1) Based on my reads this opponent would have folded on the turn with any bet. Feeling I had the hand won (I did not put him on an A) I felt that betting the turn would not have allowed me to maximize value. I was fairly certain that he would call a river bet.

The conclusion of this hand led to much table talk including "horribly played by me", "Interesting Play" and others that agreed with my play with "well played" and "nice betting"

Given my reads, would anyone have done anything different?

Hand 2:

Showdown:

yeldud shows 8s 9c.
yeldud has 8s 9c Jc Td 7d: straight, jack high.
PopeInnocent shows Jh 2h.
PopeInnocent has Jh Jc Td 7d Ah: a pair of jacks.

Hand #3452769-3302 Summary:

$1.90 is raked from a pot of $39.60.
yeldud wins $37.70 with straight, jack high.

On the flop, I put him on top pair, but obviously I did not care. I did fear a diamond draw and tried to end this on the turn, figuring if he wants to hit his draw, he will have to go all in to do it. Also, this is 3 hands after the full house hand, so he was steaming and probably would have bet anything against me.

Fortunately for me this player re-bought after this hand

Any feedback as to the plays is greatly appreciated.

Haha, that guy is crazy. His read was all off on the first one. He figured he could scare you off becuase of your turn check. He actually read it for weakness. The second hand is just silly. Again he wanted to bully you out. Hell, I may be given him too much credit. He may have figured jacks best on the second hand. I assume you'll be seeing more of him in the future.
