Hello FTR, I have some hands that need critiquing, lost ~50 dollars over the past hour and i'm just sitting it out for now. I'm fairly new to FTR and online poker (been playing for about a month) but I want to improve my game in any way possible so any criticism about these hands will be very helpful.

Recently i've tried to make it a point to record hands that I lost on a text file and write my own notes after these hands.. so you'll see some personal notes after the hand histories. Can you folks please not only critique the hand history but also my thought process so in the future I can quickly and more efficiently analyze my leaks myself.

Thanks in advance!

What the fuck was I thinking? Should have folded to the signicant resistance - i put him on high overpair and i was right. Huge range of overpairs that could beat me - don't let curiosity and he's-bluffing-syndrome dictate your calls.. damnit.

Nothing i could have prevented? bad beat? Could i have bet smaller on the flop to prevent such a heavy loss? Post on FTR and ask if postflop All in was good move or not.

Should i have slowed down on the betting?? Board was all diamonds, i shouldn't risk betting hard anyway in case he flopped a flush (or in this case flopped a straight) Kept smooth calling me It should have sent warning flags up. I thought he was going for the flush and bet harder when another diamond didn't come out. Damnit should have just checked it down.

Good results, but bad play? I met "some" resistance. I don't want my brain to be receiving positive feedbacks for speculative/possibly bad plays, consult FTR on this one. I was 60% sure he had a low ace but when multitabling 4 tables I can never be sure.

Hand 1: I don't like just calling the flop. Too many turn cards make you think twice about your hand facing another bet and you clearly dont have implied odds to set yourself. I'd raise here as basically the last action on the hand for me.

Hand 2: Fold the flop. You raise for info and got your answer. If you respect your opponents ability to lay down a hand, you can push here as a very advanced bluff. But I'd do it knowing it was a bluff. Cuz I'm a rounder!

Hand 3: nh

Hand 4: Now, this is one of those hands that I hate. This is the only board where a set isnt a monster. I think you played it ok. I probably check-call the river though and I would fold to some obscene bet. This is just a shitty hand, I think it looks good.

Hand 5: fine

Hand 6: Are you priced into this pot?

Hand 7: Fine

Next time remove results.

Some of this is luck but

1 & 2. don't raise 88 from MP1, check behind the turn.. look for a cheap showdown unless you are playing against an idiot

3. bad luck.. played it fine

4. here I look for any excude to dump this hand, board texture is aweful but you can hope for the boat.. check the river

5. weak flop bet on that board.. probly has AX, don't give him a free card! Bet the pot both times! (saw he nailed the 4 on river, tough luck)

6. when he reraises it the second time, you can fold it unless you know he's an idiot

7. AT is not a good hand, esp. OOP. Play it slow. Don't raise him. In fact consider folding to a tight plr. Call the flop raise. Check/call the turn and river.

It's PokerStars, I'm raising 15+% pre-flop on many tables. Although I usually go with $1 unless I have a good reason not to. It tends to be the right amount to do what I want to do...
