Edit: actually, I don't know what he thought I could be betting with to call the river? A Q an 8 or any PP bigger than 5s would have beat him.

well.. i guess he could possibly pick up on your flop middle pair with your call, so the slow play makes sense.. i would've expected him to mayb check raise the river had the 8 not come and raise you to pay off if you got your 10.. not the best of calls by him on the river.. i guess he couldnt let go of such i nice flop hand... alot of low stakes players just wont let go of a set.. i did the same thing to a guy, he floped set Js and i caught runner runner quad As.. just the same way as you did with your 8s, and he bet the river.. i raised him AI and he called it.
