I was new to the table, only my 3rd hand, so no reads yet. I decided that the raise at me on the flop would not have come if mystic mike was drawing a hand, I suspected he'd hit a pair, maybe he was holding an A or K with a 7 or nine. Something like that anyway

Should I have jumped out the hand or is it usually right to play this situation?

With the action on the flop I think you have to assume one of the two is on the flush draw. Also on that board someone with a flush draw almost has to have a str8 draw or at least one over to the board or a pair plus a draw, so a bet makes a lot of sense.

If he had A7 or A9, you're beat on the turn, so I guess you're putting him on K9 or K7? Not likely hands to have called a raise with pre flop.
You took a stab on the flop, I think once you get raised you're done.... you're getting good pot odds but you have no idea what card you're rooting for.

You have a point with the A7 A9, I wasn't really thinking. I thought he had a good kicker, but didn't consider that hitting my pair would give him 2.

K7 K9, VC is so loose that I certainly wouldn't put it past them. I regularly see things such as Q rag or even J rag coming in if the raise isn't too big, and sometimes if it is!

The beauty of hindsight, it looks really obvious to me now
