Did I go overboard on the turn bet? I was a little nervous about the two clubs on the flop, and when the second 8 came up, I figured I'd better show strong.
I beat seat 4 in an "all in" the last hand with a strong hand, so maybe I should have played my straight a little slower???
thanks!

Doesn't look like you did anything wrong.
There were 2 clubs on the board and then it paired up. The board turned your straight into a hand that could go very bad on the river.
If I had your straight and that board I wouldn't want to see the river.
You bet out and took your pot down.
mark it in the win column and move on.

I totally concur with Mr. mike4066!
Take it down and be glad you didn't allow anyone to draw out on you. Remember the smaller pots that you take down (and btw, +$9.50 is nothing to sneeze at) are probably more important than the few monster pots that you win. They allow you to continue playing your game so you don't have to push it.

Whenever I have second thoughts about taking down a small pot with a big hand against regular/passive opponents I remember this hand...

that sucks!
i'd keep looking for the guy (i know i will) - at least you know he plays crap cards.
what pisses me off: how many times have i folded a reasonable limping in hand (e.g. A2s in late position with no raises) due to one of these bozos raising with nothing.

I fold alot of limping hands in LP if there are no callers before me. Its one of those things where I'll play T9 from the button with 5 way action, but I'm not going heads up against the Big blind with it.
I'll limp in from anywhere with Axs and might even may even make a raise if its folded to me in LP.
I'm looking for a flush/2 pair on the flop. If It doesn't hit I'll usually Bet out if I raised PF to try and end it, or fold to a bet/raise.
