I know theres a saying that if you are beat by an overset, it just aint your day. Anyway, on the turn the only hand I really could but opp on was a set of fours - nothing else explained the size of the reraises. I know that sometimes this is a fish with just twopair or toppair, but in this situation I think I'm against an overset most of the time making my play -EV.

Thoughts?

Without reads at 25NL, and considering the size of it, I think you have to call his AI... too many people go ape with weird betting when they just made two pair or a flush draw w/ second pair.

Then again, if you've got a *really* good read on him as a tight solid player, I'd consider laying it down.

I actually laid down a set of 3's last night against a very solid player that I have played with on many occassions. After he called a large bet on a flop of 3s,7s,9d I should have shut down completely, but like a moron I led out when Qc came on the board and was check-raised. I folded because I knew that he either had a set of 7's or a set of 9's. He was nice enough to show me his pocket 7's. I have never seen him get out of line and chase a draw when he wasn't getting odds and he also knows me well enough that wouldn't have called me to begin with only 2 pair. I actually gave him more money than I should have, but oh well.

I'm not trying to brag because I can't remember a single time prior where I have laid down a set with no flush/straight possibility on the board. Like IowBoy said, against an unknown opponent I'd pay them off every time, especially at the lower limits. It just happens, so don't feel bad about it. You'll find yourself on both sides of this situation. You just have to hope the pots you lose are smaller than the ones you win.
TheXianti: (Triptanes) why are you not a thinking person?
