Villain is solid player.

Pre-flop: (9 players) Hero is UTG with
Hero raises to $1, 4 folds, CO calls, 3 folds.

Standard raise with Rockets OOP.One caller.

Flop: ($2.35, 2 players)
Hero bets $2, CO calls.

Mandatory flop bet.He calls.

Turn: ($6.35, 2 players)
Hero checks, CO checks.

This is not the best turn card as the straight has arrived.I could bet the turn;but once again if I bet river and get rasied can I lay it down?I can check turn and see what he does;if he checks I can make a block bet on river and fold to a reraise guilt free.

River: ($6.35, 2 players)
Hero bets $3, CO raises to $6, Hero folds.
Uncalled bets: $3 returned to CO.

With 4 to a straight out,the flush there, and a paired board facing the dangerous minrase from a solid player.......I lay this down.

Results:
Final pot: $12.35

By checking the turn for fear of the straight, you're giving Villain a free look at his flush on the river--IMO it's more likely he's on a flush draw than straight draw here. I bet the turn but fold to any further action.

As played turn-wise, I check/call the river if it's a small bet and c/f to a bigger one.

As played river-wise, your fold is probably correct. but I'd be inclined to look him up for three bucks, just for the future info about how he plays his draws/monsters/etc.

Ok;I figured the turn would be either a bet/fold and if he just calls then river would be bet/call or turn is check and river is bet/call.

I bet that turn. I agree he is more likely to hold FD than be holding 88 (although 88 is possible). He would probably push turn if holding 88 and you could lay down knowing you were beat.

Stacks, reads? This is an ugly board, but as played, I am not laying this down to a minraise of $3 into a $15 pot. You need to be good here 1 time in 6 to make this call. Op could have KJ/QJ/missed diamond flush. Very unlikely he was drawing to the spade flush for a pot sized bet with one spade on the flop. You checked turn, bet 1/2 pot on river which says you aren't too happy with your hand and are taking a stab at the pot and he thinks his TP with a good kicker is good. I don't see him checking behind with a made straight on the turn.

Pot=$15. Hero has to call $3 raise to go to showdown. If he wins one time out of 6, he breaks even.

if you call 5 times and lose it will cost you 5 x $3 = $15
if you call 1 time and win you will win the pot which is $15

so, if you are good 1 time in 6 here you are breaking even ($15 won and $15 lost) on this hand. A good place to start for a breakdown of pot odds is here: http://www.flopturnriver.com/start_pot_odds.html You definitely want to do some reading and get a good grasp of pot odds and hand odds if you aren't already doing so.
