SNG, somewhat early but not very.

On the button:

I call, SB folds, BB checks.
I have 700 chips or so, opp has 2000. There's about 100 in the pot.

Flop:

or something -- one club

BB checks, I bet about the pot.

check RAISED !!!!!
but wait... suppose that's bottom 2 pair...
any 7, Q, J or T and MHIG. Plus the backdoor.

What do you think?

You are slightly better than a coin flip against a 98. You are 2:1 underdog to a 76. You are a little worse than a 2:1 underdog to trip 8s or 9s. You are slightly worse than a coin flip against an AT. You are getting 4:1 pot odds. I would call to see the Turn myself.

I'm still pretty new, but I'd like to offer my opinion anyway. Personally I would fold (I would have checked the flop too though).
  • He has you outstacked quite substantially, you are probably in an all-in or fold situation here. He's in a positition to gamble; you -- not so much.
He'll probably put you in an all-in or fold situation on the turn (at least I would).
You don't have any information on his hand other than he thinks its better than yours (based on the check raise)
Any over card can beat you
Pre-flop was folded to you on the button and you just called, this seems weak.

In a ring game I'd call this, but I wouldn't risk a tournament on a hand like this. I woldn't even have bet on that flop unless I raised pre-flop. This looked like a great opportunity to steal the blinds if you had raised pre-flop. Then you would have control of this hand instead of your opponent.
