I had him beat at the flop, and pot odds where in my favor, I cant see any mistake in my play. I felt that I bet it right, and he made a foolish bet, but got lucky. Am I right?
Betting pre flop:
How aggressive had thesnackbar (TSB) been playing prior to this hand??? It is obvious he was aggressive on this hand. You put in the right bet preflop 3x the BB. If TSB was playing aggressive in previous hands I don't like just calling an aggressive raise with AQ. IMHO a reraise would have been in order. Now if TSB is really aggressive, he wold have called the reraise but even to an aggressive player Qd8d is hard to call when getting reraised back.

Betting on the Flop:
You bet 5 into a pot with 21.75 in it you have no diamond. Now TSB has 4 to 1 on his money to just call with two cards to go. He has the right pot odds here. He has the near nut flush with only the Kd to worry about. he is aggressive so he raises 20. You go AI and it only costs him 2.15 more to call. A better bet might have been to bet out the size of the pot. The small bet only invited TSB in. If you were more aggressive on the preflop betting, a strong bet after the flop might also have slowed down TSB.

TSB had some really good implied odds after the flop so I don't see the big raise after the flop as being foolish. The big reraise before the flop is a whole different manner.

Best Regards,

VF-1

Agree with about.

Also, why call his 20 raise overtop?

Respect his aggression and lay down TPTK, I feel. Or just avoid that whole raise by leading out for 12 or better. The 5 was a very weak bet.

You mean the revolver, sir?
Precisely.

Doing this may have avoided this whole messy situation.

The flop bet was only a quarter of the pot...rather than making him play for all his chips and putting him to the test, you allowed him to put you in that situation, and that's not what you want.

Yah I can cleary see that now, Im not that expierenced at ring games, I play 3table Sng's mostly and single table sngs .. Im not so good when it comes to real money I guess. My problem is, that I am thinking in the mindset of a tourney, where I made a bet a quarter of the pot, thought process I had was that I was making a bet for a decent chunk of his chips. In a tourney this works, but I can see why it doesnt in ring games.

I just have an all around hard time at ring games, because I play like there is an end. In an SnG I have to protect my stack from rising blinds, there is no such thing in ring games, and this is why I will make a nice agressive play early on hit big, then Ill lose my stack. I think my main problem is I dont know when to stop at the ring games. Is there any good guide lines? like youve won 4 or 5x the buy in? I would be happy to walk away from a ring game with 4x the buy in, but I have trouble doing it because of my tourney mentality.

Any suggestions?

I just dont understand how I constantly run into this crap. Time and time again. I understand cards get cracked, but I swear I never slow play anyone, People always hit the nuts on the turn when I try and slow play off the flop. I think Ive slow played pocket rockets once succesfully.

Am I just unlucky or is there an obvious flaw in my play on these two hands.
