Got a lot of critisism for my preflop call here. I pretty much just sat down and had been around for a few hands. Wasn't paying much attention though (playoffs were on!) so my info on the guys at this table is zero. One thing I had noticed though is quite a few guys were seeing the flop so I figured no harm in calling suited connectors in early position. There was a raise and I figured there was enough money in the pot to call.

Seat 1: bed2 ($45.40 in chips)
Seat 2: 3BBBs ($56 in chips)
Seat 3: pokerflop ($16.30 in chips)
Seat 4: blondie91175 ($23.80 in chips)
Seat 5: Nicklas22 ($49.55 in chips)
Seat 6: spykon ($46 in chips)
Seat 7: SjermsF ($52.80 in chips)
Seat 8: Galapogos [6C,5C] ($47.70 in chips)
Seat 9: Pepper_W ($68.80 in chips)
Seat 10: idc5 ($16.50 in chips)

ANTES/BLINDS
Nicklas22 posts blind ($0.25), spykon posts blind ($0.50).

PRE-FLOP
SjermsF folds, Galapogos calls $0.50, Pepper_W folds, idc5 calls $0.50, bed2 folds, 3BBBs folds, pokerflop bets $2, blondie91175 folds, Nicklas22 calls $1.75, spykon folds, Galapogos calls $1.50, idc5 calls $1.50.

FLOP [board cards 6D,QH,5H ]
Nicklas22 checks, Galapogos bets $5, idc5 bets $14.50 and is all-in, pokerflop calls $14.30 and is all-in, Nicklas22 calls $14.50, Galapogos bets $40.70 and is all-in, Nicklas22 calls $31.20.

TURN [board cards 6D,QH,5H,8S ]

RIVER [board cards 6D,QH,5H,8S,2S ]

SHOWDOWN
Galapogos shows [ 6C,5C ]
idc5 shows [ 10H,AH ]
pokerflop shows [ QC,KD ]
Nicklas22 shows [ QS,9H ]
Galapogos wins $62.40, Galapogos wins $0.60, Galapogos wins $64.70

Two questions, was this preflop call not justified? A few guys at the table grumbled about how it was a dumb play.

Second, was I too aggressive with the flop here? I figured the only hand I had to worry about was QQ, very unlikely someone had set with either of my two cards. Basically I figured I was up against over pocket pairs and flush draws.

Flawed logic?

Are you crazy? There was absolutely nothing wrong with this call and the play was fine. I have to believe that you knew that when posting this.

To be honest no. The post-flop I was pretty sure of. But the way everyone was talking about my pre-flop play I figured I should ask. Thought maybe it could be a leak in my game I should deal with.

I have a Mac so programs like Pokertracker are unavailable to me. I have to figure these things out the old fashioned way

congrats on being super rich. Add these guys to your fish list.

Your preflop call was poor, but not so poor as to warrant a complaint. You're out of position with just about the weakest suited connector you can have. Luckily the guys turned out to be fish and paid you off, but I don't make this call without a read that someone's paying me off postflop, or unless I will mostly get 5:1 odds preflop.

I'm not a huge fan of limping from early w/ 56, but once he made that call he absolutely has to call the extra dollar. If someone wants to get rid of me, they definitely have to raise more than an extra 2 BB.

It was an extra $1.50, thus 3 bb preflop - which really should have been $2.50 - $3 in which case we wouldn't even have this post to discuss.
