This is one of the ways in which I've been trying to open up my game: reraising a weak raiser when I have position. So far it's been a disaster. Below are a few examples. I'd like your thoughts on my line in these hands, as well as on reraising AK PF in general.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (7 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

UTG ($47.25)
MP1 ($114.31)
Hero ($48.75)
CO ($35)
Button ($152.94)
SB ($19.25)
BB ($47.35)

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with A, K. SB posts a blind of $0.25.
1 fold, MP1 raises to $2, Hero raises to $6, 4 folds, MP1 calls $4.

Flop: ($12.75) K, J, T (2 players)
MP1 checks, Hero bets $8, MP1 calls $108.31 (All-In), Hero folds.

Final Pot: $129.06

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (10 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

Hero ($56.95)
SB ($50.95)
BB ($38.65)
UTG ($13.85)
UTG+1 ($55.85)
UTG+2 ($51.10)
MP1 ($50.11)
MP2 ($44)
MP3 ($120.44)
CO ($51.97)

Preflop: Hero is Button with A, K. SB posts a blind of $0.25.
2 folds, UTG+2 raises to $1.5, 4 folds, Hero raises to $4.5, 2 folds, UTG+2 calls $3.

Flop: ($9.75) 4, T, J (2 players)
UTG+2 checks, Hero bets $7, UTG+2 raises to $16, Hero folds.

Final Pot: $32.75

First hand: I would have raised a little bit more preflop to see how serious he is about playing. $4 more isn't that much. But you're playing against a total donk, so it probably wouldn't have mattered in this case. I would have played the rest of it the same.

Second hand. Much better PF raise. Hard to say where you are with the hand. He most likely has a straight draw of some kind, with either A-K or K-Q. I don't see him calling that raise with J-10.

edit: yeah, I like the second hand too, on second though. K-J or A-J fits. Good lay down.

Of course, a read on either player would help.

I play both hands the same. In hand 1 the c/r AI is strange, but that board is way too scary to risk a call.

I almost always re-raise AK pre-flop in position and occasionally OOP against a loose raiser or a nit who plays weak/tight post-flop.

How are these a disaster? You're folding TPTK in hand 1 and getting away from a c-bet in hand 2. You weren't doing this the other day. NH(s) sir!

be more likely to reraise when there are many people in the pot and when the open raise is coming from later position

i think the second hand you can just call preflop. but if 2-3 people called the raise i would always reraise.

I really need to start using this... I basically do the opposite....
