Enjoy the rush while it lasts. *braces for inevitable "#$%*^ I can't beat these fishes" post a month later*
Curious why you raised to 2x the BB from UTG with 55?

I usually beef up the pot with a small raise with small pocket pairs simply to have a nicer pot when I hit my trips. Sometimes when I hit trips on the flop with a low pocket pair, and there aren't any overcards, the other player will think I'm trying to buy my way out of a pot with high cards. About 12 times today I had gotten pocket pairs and NONE of them hit trips on the flop, so I think I was DUE for trips. This hand was my reward.

If this argument holds, why not raise to 3-4x the BB?
Also, do you min-raise only when you open with small pocket pairs? If there is a single limper in front? Multiple limpers? If you can close the action from the BB?

It does add deception value. I also wonder if it makes weak players less likely to re-rasie.

I raise just enough to make the pot worth it incase everyone folds, but not too much so if I miss my trips I'm at a big loss. I raise from any position with low pocket pairs, and if I'm reraised really hard I'll consider folding.

Raiseing low pocket pairs only reduces your EV for when you flop trips, unless you are setting up for a Bluff on the flop.
Because you make trips so rarely you want to get in as cheap as poss and hope someone else made a nice hand to pay you off.
Of course calling a small raise with a PP is acceptable if your implied odds are there.

Also consider that by min-raising you're inducing a larger re-raise.

Yea I believe you're correct now that I look at how many times I've raised and not hit trips. I'll keep that in mind.

And what was that guy thinking calling you with a pair of eights?
Also agree with limping in with baby pairs. IF you hit your trip on the flop, you want people to read you as weak. Based on your pre-flop, I would have put you on pairs tens or better, aq or ak. So I woulda folded my 8s when you bet on the river.

Limping with a pair looking for a set is pretty straight forward. I don't see a lot of deception value unless you're limping in with lots of crap.

Lol, the only conclusion I've drawn from a min-raise with small blinds relative to stacks is "poor player." I don't see how it can ever be a good play unless the blinds are really big.

Especially under the gun I'd limp. You want as many people in that pot as you can get so that somebody catches a good second best hand when you hit. If you're late and have a bunch of callers, a small raise puts some more money in there to keep the overcards in after a bet, but raising early only drives weak hands out.
If you're going to raise early, do it to win now and make it bigger.

I've stopped limping with fish under any conditions. If I like my cards enough to see a flop the fish are gonna pay if they wanna see it. So I can see raising in a situation like this.
I try to get a table image as a bluffer early on, I actually try to get caught. Then i switch to my normal tighter play. Then the fish pay to play against what they think is a marginal hands. Real easy to take their money when you have the nuts too.
Really only works in B&M or home games. Online it does work, goes to fast and some ppl may not catch the forced bluff. And on some sites i cant figure out how to show my cards when i fold em.
