After this hand finished, I had a discussion with a guy as to whether or not I shoud have "just called" on the turn. I think my play is correct, in that it maximizes profit from the hands that will provide it. By raising the minimum preflop, I'm displaying some weakness (through representing a marginal-weak hand, perhaps kings with a weak kicker) and encouraging him to either call or raise with the hands he is likely to hold (A-A, K-K, or A-K). Thoughts?

If he doesn't have the king, is he going to bet the river?
Probably not. This was probably the best course anyway. Give him a chance to pop you with a big bluff.

Smithers, use the amnesia ray.
You mean the revolver, sir?
Precisely.

Interesting call preflop. Was this typical from that plr?
Didn't you think he might have a high pair? A small set
is very deceptive at this point for great implied odds
so I guess this was a good call.

Considering they both had a lot of chips relative to the pre-flop raise, this is pretty standard play. You take a flop with a small pair, hope to hit a set, and try your best to take the other guy's stack when he hits TPTK or the board is all unders to his overpair. It works a very large percentage of the time.
