the formating is ugly so ill explain the hand also... I was UTG +1. UTG raised to $2, i contemplated a re-raise but only called - unfortunatly so did everyone else at the table! Now in hindsight, I wish I raised here preflop to thin the field and not have to bet people off the huge pot post flop (if no overs come).

I like re-raising with queens to find out where you're at. After the flop you played fine.

If you have the best hand, you don't want to "bet people off the flop" you want them to make incorrect calls and pay you off. If a big pot causes people to make incorrect calls when you have the best hand, it isn't a bad thing.

What you're worried about with so many players is that you won't have the best hand after the flop, because you let some lesser holdings into the hand for cheap. Maybe I'm just over-analyzing your wording there, but it seems like your thinking is just a little bit off.

You played it well, I think.

I'd bet the flop and reevaluate myself on the turn. Depends on the opponents, you're probably safe pushing with the overpair.
