Hi...new to the forum...been reading the posts for some time though.

I was playing $25 buyin NL ring game.

Was in UTG... had AA...raised it to 3.5 (blinds 12c and 25c).
3 guys in MP call. Dealer calls. Didnt want these many players.

(Now the dealer was a complete a****** regarding preflop play.)

Flop comes K 3 7 rainbow.
I bet 75c. MP1 folds. MP2 raises to 2.5. MP3 folds. Dealer raises to 4. I reraise to 10. MP2 folds. Dealer puts me all in for $52.

I knew he didnt hit a set. I was hoping for AK. Was confused about the play and I called. He had K 7 offsuit, hit another 7 on river for his boat. MP2 folded his KQs.

I had an inkling that he might have got two pairs with his kind of preflop play. Should I have folded?

And he says, K 7 has a 13% chance over AA, and with 4 players, that makes his odds right. Comments on this probability?

Worse part is I gave the dealer about $120, but was confident in getting it all back from him. He gave all my money to two other tighter players in 3 consecutive hands and left the table. Couldnt squeeze a dime from these guys.

Another question. Should I have gone to another table seeing the dealer's play?

I probably would have called him as well. I mean thats the tough thing about aces is you problably wont improve on the flop so its tough to know if your ahead on that kind of flop. Maybe if you limped UTG, KQ would have raised and you could re-reaise, then maybe K7 would have folded. But ya once again id make the same call on the flop.

PS is your avatar from a game?

The table had 3 tight players, but preflop... there were usually 5 to 6 players with no raises. I didnt want to risk my aces against that many players. But, yeah... what you said makes sense.

Thanks for the comment....

You made two crucial mistakes that clouded your read...

1. Don't open raise 3.5xBB preflop on 25NL. This is where all the fish, weak callers, and chasers reside. They call 3.5xBB with anything, and therefore you can't eliminate possibilities postflop. Make your standard raise anywhere from 5-8xBB on these 25¢ BB tables. You have 100xBB to start here. This will give you a better read on callers. Loosening up your opponents to call such preflop raises is a different subject, but there's a definate science to it.

2. You bet 75¢ into a $3.75 pot on the flop. You're just asking for someone to come over the top of you with ANYTHING. It makes you think they're reacting to a trap instead of having a hand that's ahead of you. You need info with AA, because it takes a lot to lay it down. Often setting a trap for opponents will have the effect of trapping you with your own trap. If you bet the flop strong, and an opponent go's bananas, then you can start thinking about laying this down.

Even though you destroyed your read up to that point, you still managed to extract a great one for a price and didn't trust it...

When someone makes a 4th big raise in a betting round (as illustrated above) against all sorts of representation and strength, lay down one pair all day against it. It's NOT a bluff.
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?
Internal organs. And they're getting uglier by the minute.

wow...great analysis, thanks. Really hit the head.

P.S.: The preflop raise was $3.5, which I thought was good enough.
