This has been bugging me for a while now...
Some months ago I was in an Indian Casino on the west coast (Oregon) just passing through. I sat at a $1/$2 NL table with my son and a couple friends - it was a full table (10). There was a kid to my right who had been catching cards and was building an impressive stack. I was playing my normal TA game and gaining a medium pot here and there and had doubled my $100 startup. The kid had $600 - $700.
Here's the deal: Like I said I had $200 and change after about 3hrs of play. I had just told my son after the blinds came my way I was leaving - I am now in the big blind. 2nd to act went all-in with about $15; 6th calls; and the 'kid' was in the SB jumps straight up, hollers ALL-IN and slams his Rockets face up on the table. Well, this good ole boy hasn't acted yet - I have Q9 of spades. I damned near called just cause the kid pissed me off!
While looking the kid straight in the eye, I show him my cards and begin thinking outloud: I will catch my flush 40% of the time; his rockets in a full ring game are only good 35% of the time. Problem is the pot is only paying me $232:$200. (6th surely would not have called seeing the aces - I folded!) And as you might know, the flop came Ks, 8s, As, blank, blank...

results oriented much? You're only gonna catch the flush 3% of the time (11% of catching a draw on the flop * 35% catching it on the turn river etc)and rockets are good 35% iff (if and only if) everyone stays in the hand
If you were heads up:
equity (%) win (%) tie (%)
Hand 1: 81.0832 % 80.89% 00.19% { AA }
Hand 2: 18.9168 % 18.73% 00.19% { Qs9s }

BTW: the event actually took place.
The 'fluff' was added commentary during the trip home with my son and his friends. I honestly wish I would have had a tape recording of it all. I damned near wrecked laughing at some of it. What I posted here was a condensed version.
We were merely venting cause the kid was sure catching cards - all damned night! (I did take my $200 and go home though)
