Any thoughts on this? Villain was tight/passive and obviously had something, I just wasn't sure if it was a weaker Q or 88

I think this should have been a raised pot.

given that he's tight passive this is a really tough spot. I think there's more value to be gained in this hand by betting out rather than going for a check-raise, as that will often define your hand and kill your action. Just betting out can get bad players with crap like 8x to call you down. The b3b line would also have worked better in this particular hand since you could b3b and easily fold to a push against this guy. Now you're in a tough spot. His 3bet amount is a HUGE tell that he has 88 though so I'd lean towards a fold.

I would call and re-evaluate on turn. Its about just as likely that hes has 88 as he has the case Q, but it is much more likely that he has just an 8 or other PP maybe 99+. I've seen people refuse to beleive you have trips and their 2 pair is goot.

id just call and get all the $ in on the turn.

Reason being, I think a call is a bit weaker and he wont be able to lay down his set of Q's if he has it, so i think it helps get value out of the other set, while your still getting killed my 88 anyway.

HE IS TIGHT-PASSIVE!

you guys seriously don't give any weight to the fact that he practically told you he's got 88 with his 3bet size?

Could also be KQ/QJ/QT just as easily. I push, I've seen people way overplay Qx here too many times to do anything else.

Even if he has 88, I wouldn't fold on the flop here. 4 outs to the nuts, and I think that tight passives who have a Q here would also 3b3 here just like 88.
