Here's the situation (from my home game) Player 2 is aggressive. The other 5 are standard book players (read way to many books). Also to note, first time playing with half of these guys and I have a tight table image (cold cards all evening). 3 hours in and I still have 100% showdowns.

Player 1 (button)
Player 2 (SB)
Player 3 (BB)
Player 4 (me)
Player 5
Player 6
Player 7

I'm shortstack with $50.

Player 2 post SB $1
Player 3 post BB $2

Dealt to ME

Me raise to $6
Player 5 fold
Player 6 fold
Player 7 fold
Player 1 fold
Player 2 fold
Player 3 calls

Flop

Player 3 checks
Me bets $8
Player 3 calls $8

Turn

Player 3 checks
Me bets $15
Player 3 is all in.

sounds like he hit his flush or trying to bluff you out of the pot.

Go into the tank for a bit and try to figure out if you were him playing against *you*, what would he have to have to make the bets he did.

It'd have to be something reasonable to call 3xBB raise so garbage like 56h is probably out.

He called a pottish sized bed so he either has a peice of the flop or is on a strong draw.

The turn check raise after the third club either means he's completely full of crap....or AK/AQ/AJ of hearts.

How'd I do?

couple things i'd like to know, this is a ring game not a tourney right? and, how deep are your stacks? was this, all-in for 150 dollars, or for 40 more dollars?

to me, i fold. yea, you could be getting bluffed. but i think your turn bet was decent. unless you guys have been playing loose all night, or this is a tournament, you're at a somewhat full table and there's no reason for a risky bluff here imo.

Me: Calls $30 all in

River :Jh:

Player 3 has :As: :Ks: Ace high

Me has Pair of 7s

Reasoning:

He doesn't have the flush - Why would he have raised me all in? If he had the flush he would have called and let me continue putting my chips in.

He didn't pair the board - First, he called a 'tight' players bet, No way he has any cards lower then 10s

He doesn't have AA KK QQ - He would have raised me preflop, or at the flop, not when there is an apparent flush on the board.

He COULD have JJ 1010 99 OR AK AQ AJ with Ah- if so I still have outs/ahead.

At least that is how I saw it

Edit: This is why I love BnM poker

Nice read. I would have thought the flush but your reasoning seems pretty good.

I'm up 200$ OL. Took me a few months but i was down before I found this site. I actually just withdrew some of my profit to play in some live tournies at some local bars and restaurants. I know it'll be rough because I can feel myself get all excited/breathe harder/hands probably shake when I'm all in with a monster praying for some guy to call. I wanna work on that a bit, getting the nerves under control, make sure Im good live and OL.
