Was I weak by not betting the river, even though it was checked to me? I was very fearful of a check-raise, with a possible flush/straight on the board. I thought someone must have hit something, or else why were they paying to draw? Maybe I should have bet small, then mucked the hand if I was check-raised? Any comments are very much appreciated. Thanks.

Nope, there's nothing wrong with checking on the river becuase of the excellent chance that you'll get re-raised and unless your at a real soft table, you'll only be called by better hands than two pair considering the board.
There's nothing wrong with playing it safe becuase the other players would have most likely layed their hands down to a bet anyway (after seeing their cards that is).
I'd play it safe in that spot, too.

Mike,
I would definately put in a bet there. The Ah is such a scare card that any opponent that made his hand would probably lead into you on the river, being scared that you might check. I would assume that JT was good in that spot and make a bet to try and extract value.
