So you bet $12 into what was something like a $6 pot, got raised, and stayed in , much less reraised with TPTK? I'm going to assume you just wanted to switch it up with slowplaying your TP on the flop.

You should have folded when you got raised.

Your bet on the turn was way too big. Bet 3/4 pot or pot-sized, and give yourself more room to maneuver. If he min-raises you when you bet $6.00, you can

a) fold
b) call and see how cheaply you can showdown
or
c) throw in one more raise to put him to the test and fold when he pushes

For some reason I don't remember doing that. (Betting so much on the turn).

I usually bet the pot.

I recall putting him on a flush draw, I guess I didn't want him to call with one.

Yeah. I shouldn't have even posted this one, now I feel foolish.

No, don't feel foolish.

You posted for advice and we gave it to you. Take it as a learning experience; that's what we're all here for, right?

When I post a bad hand history, and I was an idiot for doing some move, I want y'all to come and say "YOU'RE AN IDIOT FOR DOING blah de dee blah". That way, I can fix the problem, and it won't be one in the future.

I wasn't trying to be insulting or anything. This isn't 2+2. :P

Despite some of the jackasses on the 2+2 boards, many that post on 2+2 are exprienced and give good constructive criticizms.

I didn't feel any more insulted than I should have.

Anyway, my style of play is changing a lot. I've only been playing 6 months or less, and Ifor a few months I was playing too tightly, and too passively preflop (still have a problem with the latter).

Anyway, I'm having more of a problem with TPTK now than ever before. I don't know if I've seen too many times where it would have been good or what.

The strange part now is that despite making bad plays more frequently, I have fewer losing sessions. The losing sessions are when I not only make bad plays, but also take a few bad beats.

I think the bad plays more frequently comes from playing more hands; before, it was rarely a bad move to push with an overpair, for instance. I played very weak-tight. Now I find myself in very marginal situations, and I'm doing my best to play aggressively. And I wind up with these kinds of hand histories.

If you're going to play AQ raise it preflop. Maybe the Q9 won't stay in then and you won't get beaten down.

And if he does stay in and flops a Q? Well, throw out a near-pot-sized bet and he'll probably know he's beaten.

If you're going to play AQ raise it preflop.

worth re stating, especially if you're going to play it like this when you make top pair.
