I raised all in on the flop to cut off the other two callers in case they were drawing to a diamond flush.

Did I raise too much?

Should I have bet out on the flop?
I knew he would raise post-flop reguardless so I checked with the intention of check raising him. I had no read on the table except a note saying this guy was an idiot.

youre basically guaranteed the best hand on the flop so the CR line is fine. i might even let him have another card to let him dig himself further into a hole. if you can push and get called why not.

I might consider a reraise preflop. Your play is fine here, though.

If the flop was A88 this hand would have been perfectly played. But what's your plan if everyone checks behind and the turn is a ?

Agreed... I don't like heading into a 4-way flop with AKo. Raise him to $6 or so and see what happens... if he goes over top of you and you don't have reads, I'd consider laying it down.

Also given the looseness of a lot of players at PP NL25, I might be worried about 89s, but I'm not sure that I could lay this down. There's no amount that you could re-raise that wouldn't commit you to the pot, even a min-raise. If he fired back after that, you'd have to call the $5.

my thinking was that he might have thought I try'd to steal on the flop, since he called me, I decided to check the turn, and that showed weakness.

I thought he might have tried to steal it on the end thinking that I was just on big cards..

I know I played it badly, and it looks stupid after looking over it. This is where my game needs help. It's sometimes tuff for me to tell when my hand is second best at this loose of a table.

Thanks Rilla'.

Keep advice comming..

Ops at low stakes aren't thinking about stealing a pot (in most cases). They're thinking about improving their hand and winning the pot. Most river bets you encounter will be value bets. Unless the opponent is known to be aggro and tricky, treat them that way.

Also, for this particular hand, I'd make the turn 5, check/fold the river.

When he checked on the turn, he told him that his J was good. However, just from my experience playing at small stakes on AP, that's a green light for a bet regardless of his hand. I'd say it's a 50/50 proposition that the bettor has anything TP or higher. So, in this case, I'd say my 10s are good 50% of the time.

SurfThug.. for the first hand, play more aggresssively! Raise on the flop! He could be semi-bluffing, or just having nothing at all, and want you to fold. If you had raised im sure he would have folded. Yes you dont have the ace, but I dont think he has on either.

For second hand, when the flush hits and you lack position, betting into him is a bad idea, he's just gonna raise through the roof and you lack position to do anything about it. Check the turn, and if he bets big fold.
