My memory is foggy here so I couldn't really tell you the beginning of the hand, but here is the decision I had to make.

the hole cards

the board

3 people left in the hand I had just been re reraised all in by a loose preflop player, who bets his hands hard. at this point in time there was about 110 + in the pot, and with his 39 more made it 140. I had him covered. so its 39 $ for me to call with a flush + straight draw. I had him for an over pair for some of the things he had said, and the fact he had raised early position (there were a lot of callers so i figured id dive in and hope for a generous flop). so I figured it was about a coinflip if that was the case. I was positive the player behind me was going to fold.

Now if the player does have an over pair and the other player folds, is this call correct? Ill post results later.

Tournament or ring game? If tournament, what's your stack size?

I voted call, just the flush draw gives you right about good enough pot odds. Let's say that your gutshot straight draw a little more than balances the fact that it's not the nut flush, and I think you've got an easy call here.
TylerK: its just gambling if i want to worry about money i'll go to work lol

Agree with Tyler.

For that small of an added amount, I call this easily.

I had this exact same call in a live tourney on friday.

I jad a gut shot and the flush draw... I was in the BB and the SB raised all in on the flop... he didn't raise pre flop, I put him on a pair of jacks, maybe two pair...

I was the big stack at that point too... After I called nothing came down for me...

drumphill,

There will definitely be times that this doesn't come in. There will also be times that it does. Overall they should more than equal out.

In your situation, it sounds like the all-in was significantly more of a raise relative to the size of the pot. You might want to think about those values a bit more before calling if that was indeed the situation. The difference between your situation and this one is that all you could do is double up basically. You would get slightly better than 1:1 on your money when you make your draw. So you need to make it significantly more than 50% of the time. Yours will come in about 45% of the time. That makes this a very close call. I'd probably save my money for later unless I had something to do if/when I lost here (and/or your stack was enough that calling wouldn't hurt you too bad).

In the previous situation, after the bet that Doc made, when the guy reraised it was $40 to win a $140 pot (if he folds his bet is lost, so it's no longer part of the cost of playing). There he's getting better than 3:1 on his money. He'll have this come in more than the 25% of the time needed to make it profitable.
