I have been inspired to improve my note taking after reading this post on 2p2:

Almost there with Success and Failure (Long) - STT Poker Strategy - Single Table Tournament Poker Forum

My question for everyone is, what types are things are you noting on players? Do you have some sort of system or routine you follow while you play?

Currently I try to make notes of anything players show down in 3bet pots, if they show floating tendencies, and any bizarre or real donkish plays. Any recommendations on how to improve this aspect of my game?

I use the note color to describe basic tendencies ie station/trappy/bad at vbetting/fish/lagtard.

Then I'll note where anything out of the ordinary happened - I never really have time to read them but after a couple I'll consolidate them into general reads and how I think they perceive me. So my notes may start out as something like "flat xx btn/co 100bb,calldown triple barrell on xxxxx vs air" and end up as something like "prolly thinks Im aggromonkey, bluffcatches - vb to death dnb" etc.

post-flop bet sizing definitely - that's where loads of 100NL regs are completely unbalanced. 3- and 4-bet sizing IP and OOP. I try to make shortcuts wherever I can because it can be tedious to read and write things out. Might look something like:

3b bbvss, hpcb Axxs, c, sgbb/f

= 3-bet vs steal pre, half pot c-bet on Axx 2-tone flop, check turn, supergayblockbet (1/4 pot or less) river and fold to a raise

other common abbreviations I use:
mdf: for mindonk/fold to a raise
hpdr: donk half pot/ 3-bet
and sometimes stuff like hp+1 or fp-1 on sites where you have half pot and pot betting buttons and they press that and then correct the bet size by x number of blinds.

any kind of obvious timing like instant check/calls or timebank/raises - which are always the nuts, but still worth taking a note.
