Opp is 20/12.5/2.8 over 175 hands. I've been trying to cut down on my river crying calls. I didn't think he'd call the flop with just a big ace here, so I thought set/higher pair. Is my flop/turn play good? Whatcha think?

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (9 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

UTG ($272.65)
Hero ($123.27)
MP1 ($117.94)
MP2 ($100)
MP3 ($103.90)
CO ($25)
Button ($123.15)
SB ($99.50)
BB ($57.65)

Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with T, T. CO posts a blind of $1. SB posts a blind of $0.50.
UTG raises to $4, Hero calls $4, 7 folds.

Flop: ($10.50) J, 9, 2 (2 players)
UTG bets $4, Hero raises to $14, UTG calls $10.

Turn: ($38.50) J (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero checks.

River: ($38.50) 2 (2 players)
UTG bets $12, Hero folds.

Final Pot: $50.50

edit: After rereading it after I posted it, it looks like a really awful fold. Feel free to tell me I'm right.

AJ can hit trip jacks. This play looks standard. No probelm with it.

As the guy said above since you felt you had him beet with your 1010 why would you check the turn? If youd bet out 1/2-3/4 here and gets called you could CHECK behind on river if checked to you or fold.

This hand could of went 6 different ways. You had 1010 and A jack was on the flop you folded , how is that a probelm.

Still looking for my royal flush.

I could have bet the turn but I didn't, I didn't think he'd call a flop raise on a drawless board with worse than TT. So I considered the fact he may think I have a set so he slowed down with a bigger pp since he raised from UTG.

I could have folded the flop but I hate set mining. It's a problem because I think I have the best hand very often here against somebody who raises 10% preflop and is very agg. post flop.

did you have any reads on how he plays postflop other than just his preflop stats?
can he get away from AK when it doesnt hit?
will he play QQ like this?
is 77 or 88 a possibility?
does he slowplay?

when he shows you weakness and you think you have the best hand you should really take a stab at the pot.

Thanks bearcat, I get really timid in these spots. I think it's mostly a combo of my recent failure at the 6max $100 and playing low limits for so long even though I had played as a winner through 65k hands at the $100fr before I switched to 6max. Therefore I have turned into a nit and need more aggression.

I'm not sure about his postflop range because most of his hands were datamined.
