Well, you played it weakly by checking turn and river. Lead turn for sure, if your scared you can check/call river but never fold that river.

My 2 cents:
Villain didn't play it strong. Villain would have played it strong, if he potted turn and shoved river, putting you in really tough spot.
As played, you have easy call on river, because you underrepped your hand, cost of showdown is fairly cheap and villain could be valuebetting lesser overpair or bluff with missed draw.
Bet/fold turn is better line, because sets and 2pairs can't slowplay anymore on this board and will probably push, and weaker hands may still look you up hoping you are on AK or something.

IMO, a weak fold. You under-represented your hand by checking the turn and river so it looked like missed AK to villain. So, he probably has a PP and thinks he is goot. His 1/3 pot bet on the river is so weak I would re-raised allin. If he has a set, then so be it. You should always bet the turn here unless you are trying to induce a bluff against over-agressive villain.

How often do you think you're behind on the river really?
You realise if you are ahead even 20% of the time its a river call...
I think you're probably closer to like... 70/30 in your favor.

Thanks everyone, I have just been overplaying overpairs losing to sets that I have been trying to check the turn for pot control and hope to see a cheap showdown.
I try to follow "big pots for big hands, small pots for small hands."
I realized this was played very weak but my reasoning was that all I have is one pair and I can find a better spot.
Again, Thanks for the help.

Turn play is the biggest leak here IMO

i think that bet fold turn here works best.
as played you have to call that river, but that is just another reason why bet folding the turn would be a lot better.
