Villain is 15/5/1.2 and we've no history. Raiser is kinda an aggro fish.

looks pretty standard.

Weaker but strong showdown hands call the turn bet and look to call on the river or bet for value if checked too so the turn raise looks like an over set, almost inevitably sevens.
I cant see anyone playing AJ or even KJs etc like this.

probably because we arent the typical unthinking nits who open ten tables on stars and think any set is the god-given-nuts.

I guess some of us here actually think making decisions based on the action is more important than playing our hand textbook-perfectly.

ouch, was that a 2p2 flame? :P

I have to be honest, I probably would not fold this. But if there was ever a time to fold a set, this would be it.

That turn raise is scary as hell, especially after the smooth call on the flop.
Think big, or suck.

AA/KK/QQ? I'm not sure I can fold bottom set here.

Eh, I just read it again. Who limps with AA/KK directly after limper with meh position.

This post should maybe be sticky under "when to fold a set".

Is there a greater than 25% chance that you have the best hand?

This doesn't necessarily apply to this hand, but of all the times that you smooth-call the flop and lead the turn, what percentage of the time would you say that you're planning on folding to a raise?

Interesting hand. How long did he wait to call the flop bet? I guess I could see him smooth calling with a set on a board this dry. Given the action, unless this guy is a total moron, I don't see what you're beating. Since you said he's a nit and those stats back it up, I think you made a good fold.
TheXianti: (Triptanes) why are you not a thinking person?

maybe around 30-35% I do this as a bluff 25%, with a decent hand 37.5% and with sets and stuff 37.5%

roughly

Hell of a fold. No way he limps preflop, calls a raise, then cold calls a pot size bet, then raises the turn without 77/JJ. His raise was meant to be called and with his stats it looks like a set every single time.

Ive got to say that i dont always agree with some of rentons more marginal calls but i do certainly agree with a lot of these folds that seem almost dumb but are actully thought through thoroughly and perhaps can be called marginal. It brings a different dimension to understanding folding hands.
nh renton.
