shouldnt have called preflop, in order to call a raise preflop you must have a much better hand than the majority of your opponents reraising hands. his reraising hands probably are QQ,KK,AA,AK, and maybe JJ if he isnt a tight player, none of which you have beat preflop, and only one you have beat postflop, but by his betting pattern you can be pretty sure he doesnt have AK. in order to call this preflop reraise i think you need KK,AA,AKs, MAYBE QQ if you think you are able to let yourself lay it down when an overcard pops or you are faced w/ a huge bet.

but yeah it was a good laydown on the turn. he definitely had KK,AA, or AsKs

learn to put your opponents on a range of hands preflop and then decide if your hand can beat the majority of them. this is known as the gap concept. in order to call a raise you must have a better hand than the majority of your opponents, but you may raise with lesser standards as long as you are the one leading.

Keep in mind he had position and people with position at 400 nl are known to reraise with garbage or connected suitors

i understand that. but another problem w/ the play is that you hit what you were hoping for on the flop, TPTK, yet you didnt raise. when i saw you check i certainly thought you were going for a check-raise but you just called. if you arent going to go all out when you hit your objective you had for the hand then there is no reason to play it period. if you think he was reraising you with garbage or suited connectors then there is no reason why you should not have raised the flop to find out. really this hand consists of an overcall preflop (in my opinion, it may not have been), and passive play on the flop when you hit TPTK with a flushboard. if he wants to reraise an underthegun raiser with garbage then more props to him, he will probably be a losing player and he just lucked out that you called with a slightly less than premium hand and didnt play it more aggressively on the flop. if you're going to call a reraise preflop with AQs then be prepared to put your chips in the middle when you hit or you will have to surrender the pot 80% of the time. if he is playing garbage then more than likely the hand wont go past the flop or the turn, thus not earning you enough money for the times this happens versus the times that they have what their raise represents, making it -EV choice. the only time you will be comfortable with seeing the flop with this hand is when you flop a straight, flush, or trips w/ low cards on the board, and none of these are very likely. playing scared or uncomfortable results in less than optimum decisions in postflop play.
