I feel like I definitely played these hands incorrectly. How would you have played these hands differently?

No set, no bet.

Don't even bother with 88 as an overpair. You can find better spots to commit your chips. So many turn cards ruin you, you never know where you are and even on an all under flop, you're probably beat. You either win a small pot or lose a big one when you overvalue these kinds of pairs.

What about the 77 hand. This type of flop has happened multiple times to me lately and I'm not sure how to play it. The opponent obviously has an overpair and I have the 1 card open ended straight draw. If you have position do you raise and hope for a free card? Do you check/fold? If not how much of a bet will you call on the flop and turn?
