Villian just sat down... I hadn't yet rebuyed after my bad beat a couple hands ago, wouldn't have played it differently though. $1.25 was my normal raise at this table for any decent hand.

its a great feeling to make a 'monster' laydown. the challenge is not be righteous about it. mike caro suggests that you should always be prepared to muck big (including made) hands when you are certain you are beat. this prevents ppl from pegging you as tight, and therefore feeling safe about bluffing you.
the hardest part about throwing AA for example, is that its the one time you KNOW youre ahead pre-flop. but dont announce to the table that youre mucking your aces, even if the board is 4-flushed. take the opportunity to make it look like you were bluffing all along, if you think it will help your image.

The thing is, it wasn't a great feeling to make this laydown. Maybe cause I was having a run of cold cards and wanted to take down a pot finally, but still, I wasn't happy to make this laydown. Two hours and only 1BB/100 was just really boring at that point.

Boring Schmoring. You had the losing hand.

It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?

Just wondering what you guys think:
What do you put this guy on? AK? Trips 7s or 8s? He only called preflop, so it's probably not KK, but who knows. Then he check-raises on the flop. If he has top pair or trips, why would he give a free card with a straight and flush potential. I think he's playing off your continuation bet and trying to buy it. Not that you need to stay in the hand and find out, but just seems an odd play.
Would anyone consider calling and playing off the turn card?
And why the hell does it seem like when somebody just sits down, they feel obligated to raise up the first hand they play? Happens very often at this level.
Just some thoughts.

i think his c/r is trying to rep a hand stronger than he actually has (like KJ etc) but youre still beat.

I agree. He's might be just trying to see where his weak K is at. It could be a poorly played set, but unlikely. You're beat here too many times to continue.

?? am I not allowed to be bored at the poker table?? I was only 2 tabling, and playing Tagg just wasn't getting much action that night.
I put him on a K, possibly AK, but more likely KJ, KT and he was chasing a flush draw away... Either way I was behind and it was time to fold. I don't think many people would make that call (or a re-raise) without a solid read.

I think his point is that you should not base your decision in this hand on anything but your cards and your opponent.
