He's raising 11x the BB. How much does he need to raise?

I do raise larger preflop, which has a good chance of weeding out those 8s. Regardless, I call the all-in as you did in either scenario.

WHAT?!?!
You've got to know when to drop KK, but not avoid the situation alltogether by only getting hte blinds with KK and AA!
This situation, I do exactly what he did. After all, it was a puny little stack that did it to him.

well he only made a min reraise on top of the first raise, i'd suggest bumping it up slightly more to maybe $7 or so

That's true, it was only a min raise. I'd have probably pushed, you can't really worry about AA all the time when you've got KK. Once the flop does come you should be losing your stack really, trips are rare. With taller stacks it's possible you might have figured him for trips but i doubt it.

I'd go 3 X the amount of his raise, so $9 or so.
Basing it on opp's stack is fun, too, but I'd only go 1/3rd of that

Aces! Haven't you been teaching me not to worry about AA and always push with KK preflop?
Why is this guy raising 88 preflop and calling a reraise with it? The only thing he can hope for is hitting his set...

It was raised to 3 ahead of him and he min-reraises.
This is a mistake becuase he's declaring the strength of his hand (AKs, AA, KK) without it costing much to the opponent.
It's giving away free information in a game where information directly correlates into money.

AI is better than the minreraise.
In your scenario, you'll usually win just 2.5 more.
And the AI only needs to get called once in a blue moon to compensate for that.
People do stupid things.
Note: I only said better, not the best.

If that's the issue, then he shouldn't re-raise at all.
Take a flop with concealed strength and reduced information about your opponent.

Simple, raise more preflop and go all in on a safe flop.
