Not much history with villain, seems okay but not great. About a 20/10 guy. River comments especially welcome. I didn't think he was chasing, hence the river push.....how bad is that push?

Why don't you think he's chasing? I put him on a diamond draw, ace worse kicker, maybe AK or something kooky like Q8 or a slow-played 88. If he's on the diamond draw or has AJ/AT (the most likely hands, imo) the push is terrible b/c you're getting called by better hands and folding worse hands. If he has something weird like AK/Q8/88, then the push is better b/c he might fold a better hand when the flush hits. BUT, given he's been calling and not raising, I'd assume he's a station and isn't folding anything but AJ or worse here.

I like c/c river I think, maaaybe c/f to a push, but he has ~1/2 pot behind, so probably not.

I put him on: AJ or worse first, then Q8, then maybe QK. The call of the large turn bet made me think he wasn't chasing a flush or that he didn't have JT and was trying to fill an inside straight. The lack of a raise on the drawy board made me discount a set.

I think my river push was bad because there isn't any way he could put me on really strong hands like a straight (he can't think I raise JT preflop) or a flush (what two diamond cards would I have open raised in EP that would have made the diamond draw possible for me?). My only hope was that he had one pair/two pair and was afraid of a set. He said in the chat that he was very afraid, but made the hero call anyway. He said that my lack of caring for the river told him two pair.
