i am trying to pick a couple spots to practice opening my 3bet range.
just sat down at table...is that mistake #1 when 3betting light?
and, is semi-bluffing the draw into an unknown (bet seemed a bit loose pf) mistake #2?
2 barrelling mistake #3, when i think he's on an overpair?
when should i have given up, or should i have called river?
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.25 BB (9 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)
Button ($11.65)
Hero ($24.75)
BB ($16.05)
UTG ($5.95)
UTG+1 ($15.25)
MP1 ($28.50)
MP2 ($28.10)
MP3 ($21.85)
CO ($19.65)
Preflop: Hero is SB with 4 , 4 .
1 fold, UTG+1 raises to $0.5, 5 folds, Hero raises to $1.5, 1 fold, UTG+1 calls $1.
Flop: ($3.25) 6 , 5 , 7 (2 players)
Hero bets $2.5, UTG+1 calls $2.50.
Turn: ($8.25) 2 (2 players)
Hero bets $4.5, UTG+1 calls $4.50.
River: ($17.25) 6 (2 players)
Hero checks, UTG+1 bets $6.75 (All-In), Hero??
is this a spot to play passive and slam if the draw completes?

unkown utg+1 opening range in full ring = good hands. you are in the worst position possible. don't 3bet 44 there.

Against UTG+1 call. Play for set value. If he was CO and you were button, I like it. But you are OOP for the whole hand, making it much harder for you.

i dont really even consider it a 3-bet when the original bet is a min-raise.

good point, but while new to 3betting lighter ranges, i need to pick spots cheaply, imo, for practice.
i dont know why, if the whole stack is going anyways. i guess it's a nit thing.
i'll figure it out before long...i hope.

You need to pick spots that are +EV or you will think wtf this 3betting thing sucks. In this hand I dont mind it because hes a minraiser but its about the worst 2barrelling flop there is. If he has an overpair/set he isnt going to fold. If he has a pair then he either has 2pair or a straight draw to go with it and he isnt going to fold. If he has a flush draw he isnt going to fold. Give up. If he raised a sensible amount preflop then id hate it more. 25NL UTG+1 ranges are a long way ahead of 44, and you dont have as much FE as you would at higher stakes. Playing for set value is $$$. 3 betting is -$-$-$
Also your draw sucks. Do you really want to be "slamming" when you have the 1 card ass end of a really obvious straight? Try to start putting people on ranges before you make decisions.

I wouldn't raise UTG+1 without stats to show he's loose. So yes, bad idea when you first sit down. From SB you need to be 3 betting loose CO/BU raisers, not people much more likely to have a hand.
I wouldn't 2 barrel if you think he's on an overpair b/c he ain't folding that. Give up after flop bet is called.
Finally don't 3bet a short stack without a real hand, especially OOP. You don't need to 3bet to get it all in by the river with shortys. You just need him to catch TP.
