Was this an easy fold?I just don't see why he would want to push all in when he's hit his hand.Wouldn't it have made more sense for him to smooth call my bet then wait to lead out/raise the river?

He raised because he could. He is sitting on the nuts, with a chance to improve against a guy who came out of the gate raising. (THis was your first hand at this table)

He had every reason to believe you are a maniac overplaying your mediocre hand.
