No read here. Last time this happened I called with aces and the guy had a four, and someone on this forum told me I was a loser.

It just seems like any hand that beats me (TT or a four) slowplays this, right? I think I probably should have called.

i woulda put him on JJ or QQ and called. i doubt he would have pushed with TT and i dont see how he could have a 4 w/ the preflop raise unless he had quads, which i dont see anyone pushing after the flop. i dont think he had aces cuz he didnt reraise preflop. he may have had absolutely nothing, i tend to raise w/ nothing when someone bets at a paired board. maybe AdXd. anyway i'd call.

About ten hands later, I saw him make the same play with 88 on an AA8 flop, after a weak bet. (Just pushed outright).

So maybe I wasn't ahead?

Without a read make the call. Given you saw him do that later with a boat, it seems likely that he did have you beat and you should keep that in mind if you play against him later. Some players are like that - hair-trigger all-ins if they have a strong hand, and they hope people will call often enough to profit from it.

Pre-flop raise is fine, and seeing the flop with two others is fine. Kings aren't such a shrinking violet that you have to chase off all action.
