This is an interesting hand I observed whilst waiting for a table at stars. I think the stacksize makes it interesting. whats your river action? SB is unknown.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $1.00 BB (9 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

($184.95)
CO ($291.50)
Button ($89.75)
SB ($261.40)
BB ($63)
UTG ($189.60)
UTG+1 ($96)
MP1 ($98)
MP2 ($114.25)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with K , J .

Hero calls $1, Button calls $1, SB calls $1, BB checks.

Flop: ($1.50) 7, K, 5 (9 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets $4, CO folds, Button calls $4, SB calls $4, BB folds.

Turn: ($13.50) 2 (7 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $13, Button calls $13, SB raises to $26, UTG calls $13, Button calls $13.

River: ($91.50) J (7 players)
SB bets $230.4 (All-In), Hero ????
gabe: Ive dropped almost 100k in the past 35 days.

Wow the SB minraised the turn when BU is obvious draw? 6h4h would not suprise me here. I really don't see a fold also, I mean 75, K7s, K2s, K5s. It's hard to fold when only a set beats you.
Though i'm obviously looking at it from the "he doesn't have him beat angle" because i bet a lot SB put him on two pair and he's pushing his set.
Check out the new blog!!!

Turn minraise is only 2/3 the pot. But still scurry.

takesix, I think he means the first bet on the turn that was pot sized. I agree with Terry here. I know I'm beaten but with only 30 secs to decide I usually talk myself into a call. I'd usually fold the turn though. You make a psb with a crappy hand and get raised, I just don't call it.

If he does not have the set he's a donk. There is no point to
go allin and get called only by a better hand.

That says it all right there. Limping UTG at full ring with shitty cards and being OOP the rest of the hand FTW.

Can we really fold to the turn minraise? If this raise is bigger, maybe I can find a fold, but I am rarely able to let go of top pair here to a minraise (figuring I have some outs to two pair at least). Maybe this is a leak, but I don't think I could fold without a read on villian (nit?)

Also, isn't SB's range very large here given a limped pot? Any two-pair is probably in his range, not just a set?

I can see myself making this call once in a while, but the large river overbet is very strange, so yes I can see a set here.

He check called a pot sized bet on the flop and c/minraised a pot sized bet on the turn with a caller in between. This guy is a donk playing any hand like this, but against an unknown I assume that I'm drawing dead on this turn.

The hh is kinda fucked up, I'm not even sure of heros position on the table, but being OOP in a limped pot with KJo is a recipe for disaster.

I tried real hard to put him on a hand. what do people think are the chances of him having the club flush draw?
On the river I basically put him on a busted club draw or a set. I think minraising a set on that turn is more retarded way of playing it than a flush draw. The club draw was the only real hand that made semi-sense to me if hes raising so that he can get a bigger payoff when he hits. Who knows maybe he even thinks hell get a fold once in a while. I actually thought a call might be in order here.

thoughts?

It is certainly a possibility...but to minreraise a draw after Hero has pot-bet the turn (when he knows he very likely has the best hand and that there are draws out)...that would really take some guts or stupidity.

And open-pushing the river with air (even in this situation) is not in most $100 NL players' arsenals.

This looks to me more like a horribly-played flopped 2-pair, turned 2-pair (thinking K5/K7/57/K2) or a turned straight.

Though definitely one cannot rule out an oddly played set of 55/77 that was taking a risk that the flush would not river but that top pair would pay him off...that seems really odd indeed.

All of this factored in...my experience has been that when I bet strong on the flop and turn only to be minreraised on the turn by an OOP player - that player has me smoked (at these mid-to-low limits anyway).
I think I get out of the way on the turn, and mostly fold the river.

You should fold because you don't have pot odds and you do have reverse implied odds if you hit your hand.

The pot odds here say that once in a while he might win but calling here as a standard is pretty bad. This is more often a set than a busted draw.

I fold so fast I hope I don't hit call by accident. Although with that teaser (and considering we know the hero's cards ), I am guessing the SB went nuts with a massive bluff.
Some days it feels like I've been standing forever, waiting for the bank teller to return so I can cash in all these Sklansky Bucks.

Meh, so you make it sound like he won but even if he did it's an awful call in the long run. Results are really pointless for 1 hand.

Yea I didnt mean dont fold here. I ment for gabe to answer the question instead of just saying fold preflop.

Anyway. As for results I cant actually remember what he had but it was a something like a crazy bluff with A2s (not hearts or clubs). Obviously there was no way anyone was going to put him on that but im suprised noone else found his line suspicious.

Hero thinks until he has about 6 seconds left on the timer and then folds.

Button instacalls with K6 and wins with TPNK. button said it looked like he was setting up for the bluff with the minraise.

All in all i think the hand was played pretty terribly by all concerned. Ill definatly bear in mind that I should be folding these though because I think I might have called.
