1-2NL (equivalent to 100 buyin on other sites) on Pokerroom, a low stakes game but was wondering what you guys wouldve done different on this one and what your move is at the end.

And the player named "FTR Player" is a known person on here so I changed his name due to the fact that I didnt know if he would mind his SN being shown.

Seat 3: tanic ($59.50 in chips)
Seat 5: FTR Player ($102.50 in chips)
Seat 8: Hero[ 7C,7S ] ($161 in chips)

ANTES/BLINDS
FTR Player posts blind ($0.50), HERO posts blind ($1).

PRE-FLOP
tanic calls $1, FTR Player folds, HERO checks.

FLOP [board cards 6H,8D,4S ]
HERO bets $3, tanic calls $3.

TURN [board cards 6H,8D,4S,5S ]
HERO checks, tanic bets $7, HERO bets $14, tanic calls $7.

RIVER [board cards 6H,8D,4S,5S,7H ]
HERO checks, tanic bets $41.50 and is all-in

Well tanic made a great bet on the river. The momment you checked, you sealed your fate. You can't call this bet in the hopes of, at best, splitting the pot. The risk doesn't justify the reward. You've gotta lay it down, it sucks, but so would losing 41 more if he happens to have a better straight. When you checked on the river you were hoping he just check. Had you made a decent bet, if tanic were to push, you'd know who had the best of it but your check leaves everything up in the air. Fold, you knew you were gonna fold when you checked.

Personally I think that tanic is holding a 7, because he made a very high bet on the turn, however I would fol because the bet was to big, and like rilla said you shouldn't have checked on the river.. very tough call but I would have folded.

Difficult not knowing any history of Tanic.

I ask myself what would I do in his position with a better straight!
I would make a large but callable bet not go all in and scare off the mark!
That all in looks like a semi bluff ie he takes it all or worse way splits the pot!
I would call.

Call. He has 2 pair or TPTK or an overpair or a set in any case you have the best hand. The only scary hand is 97 which gave him OESD on flop. If he made his str8 on turn why bet so big and when he was reraised why not push AI on turn to close out the spade flush draw. You have the best hand or a split.

Well on this one I was on the same lines as SteveO and Venster. I thought the bet to be too much and his play on the turn didnt really fit either for what he was portraying. I called and sure enough he was playing 6 9 off. Since then Ive added him to my "Buddy List" and have made it all back from him with interest.

As a side note to this, it really shows how for lower limits you have to adjust your play and thought into it accordingly.
