I always try to learn from hands that go down like this. Should I have bet differently, or was I destined to get stacked here?

You should have reraised preflop since you had a raiser and 1 caller. Jack it up to about 15. Flop is fine, turn is fine. River is a bit scary. It completes a straight, and a slowplayed set plays like this. I think you might be able to find a fold on the river. Open pushing usually means you're beat..

I agree, it sucks but you have to fold that river based on the way the hand was played
My bankroll is the amount of money I would spend or lose before I got a job. It is calculated by adding my net worth to whatever I can borrow.

I see no problems except for a fold on the river. Just about everything he could have to prompt his all-in have you beat. 3x lower pp that hit their set, which play like this. 99/QQ/AA, which would play like this (they wouldn't fold the flop b/c they were overpair to it). The straight is possible, but not too likely. Just about the only thing you are praying for here is AQ..

Oh yeah, and with KK I woulda made em pay more preflop to move on to see the flop. Reraise it there.
